During World War II, Americans across the country came together to plant Victory Gardens - small backyard plots that produced nearly 40% of the nation's fresh vegetables by the end of the war. In a time of crisis, ordinary citizens made an extraordinary impact, easing food shortages and boosting morale.

Today, our nation faces a different kind of crisis: food insecurity. Millions of Americans - many of them children, seniors, and working families -- don't know where their next meal will come from.

At OLI Gardens, we're inviting you to be part of a new movement: the Patriotic Gardens initiative. Inspired by the spirit of the Victory Gardens, Patriotic Gardens empower individuals, families, schools, and communities to grow their own fruits and vegetables - and share the bounty with local food pantries in honor of our nation's heroes.

How Patriotic Gardens Work

Patriotic Gardens are simple:

Grow a Garden - Plant fruits, vegetables, or herbs in your                               backyard, patio, school, or community                                 plot.

Honor a Hero -    Dedicate your garden in the spirit of                                   remembrance for our fallen heroes from                             Gold Star Families and First Responder                                 Families.

Give Back       -    Donate a portion of your harvest to a                                   local food pantry or community kitchen                               to help those struggling with food                                       insecurity.
