Lauren Verthein is a Senior at Metea Valley High School who ignites her curiosity by participating in a wide variety of activities. She enjoys serving the community as Co-President of the senior high board of the nonprofit organization Kids Matter. At Metea she leads the community service branch of Student government, the Principal's Advisory Board, English Honors Society, and the International Thespian Society. Lauren also participates in Varsity choir, Youth and Government, peer partners, drama club, fresh connect, the school musical, the speech team, the improv team, and The Merry Tutor. Her future plans include pursuing a career in environmental law to combine her passion for civil service with her desire to preserve the Earth for future generations. Lauren wants to help stand up for environmental justice to ensure a fair distribution of environmental benefits which includes eradicating food insecurity. She is excited to take the first step towards doing exactly that as an OLI Gardens' intern.
